2007 SPF Donation Drive

2007 Donation Drive
$5600 $4,000

Sunday, May 20th 2007, Princeton, NJ

Dear Members and Friends,
Through AMAC Mid-Atlantic Student Projects Fund we support independent research, scholarly, and outreach projects undertaken by undergraduates at Croatian universities. The Fund promotes the establishment of connections between the grantees (students in Croatia) and us, Croatian academics and business professionals in the United States. Award recipients are selected by AMAC's Awards Committe, and the grants are awarded directly to students. Upon completion of their SPF-supported projects, the awarded students will write a report on their results, that will be made available through our web site. Our long-term goal is to make AMAC Mid-Atlantic SPF a leading fund which identifies and supports the best and brightest Croatian students in achieving their academic and professional goals.

Our Student Projects Fund is supported solely by donations of AMAC MA's members and friends -- people like you. Our ability to support the best projects, and the number of SPF grants awarded, depends entirely on the generosity of your contributions. This year, we are aiming to fund no less than eight student projects, with approximately $500 per project. To fulfill this vision, our goal is to collect $4,000 in donations by June 22nd, 2007, the date when the grants will be awarded.

We therefore call upon you to join your AMAC Mid-Atlantic colleagues and, by donating to the Fund, directly support the next generation of Croatian engineers, scientists, artists and business professionals from their beginnings.

Making a Donation or a Donation Pledge

Our goal is to collect $4,000 in donations by June 22nd, 2007 and award up to 8 SPF grants in this round of proposals. Please, join your fellow members and make a pledge towards that goal right here and now by clicking the following link:

Any contribution you make will be matched by an equal contribution from a charitable fund in memory of Zeljka Matutinovic.

We will gratefully acknowledge your contribution on the list of AMAC MA SPF Donors and in all 2007/08 AMAC-MA SPF printed materials (brochures, presentations, reports, etcetera). Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may choose to do so.

Also, donors of $500 or more will have the SPF grant funded by their donation named after them or a person, business or name of their choosing1 (i.e. "The 2007 AMAC Mid-Atlantic Ivan Horvat Grant").

AMAC Mid-Atlantic is a 501(c)(3) exempt public charity, making donations to AMAC MA deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers or gifts under section 2055, 2106 and 2522 of the Code. Matching Funds and Zeljka Matutinovic Memorial Grants

In honor of Zeljka Matutinovic, a very dear friend who was taken from us unexpectedly in an accident on Martha's Vineyard on July 2, 2006., Zeljka's family has established a charitable fund supporting Croatian students.

In accordance with Zeljka's family wishes, Dr. Vladimir Ban, the executor of Zeljka's estate and AMAC Mid-Atlantic have agreed that all contributions to the Student Projects Fund by AMAC's members and friends be matched by equal amount from Zeljka's estate. Dr. Ban will also assume a position on the Student Projects Fund Awards Committee.

Furthermore, to honor Zeljka's successful and brilliant life and keep her memory alive, the top awarded SPF grants will hereon be known as the "AMAC Mid-Atlantic Zeljka Matutinovic Memorial Grants".
