AMAC MA Establishes the Student Projects Fund

On January 24th 2007, the Members of AMAC Mid-Atlantic voted unanimously to establist the Student Projects Fund, a fund chartered with a mission of providing grants to support independent undergraduate student projects at Croatian universities.

AMAC MA, through the Student Projects Fund, will support the independent research, scholarly, and outreach projects undertaken by undergraduate students at Croatian universities. SPF awards support projects through which students acquire practical skills and knowledge important for their future careers, beyond the usual and customary curricular activities. The fund promotes the establishment of connections between the grantees (students in Croatia) and Croatian academics and business professionals in the United States.

SPF grants will be awarded biannually, with each award not exceeding $500 per project. The number of awards will be limited only by the funds available, and the quality of the received applications.

Any undergraduate student enrolled in Croatian universities may apply, irrespective of year or field of study. A project proposed for an SPF grant must be the student’s own independent project. If course-connected, it normally must be in directed research, independent study, internship, or some such similar course, and not in fulfillment of regular course or seminar requirements.

The first Call for Proposals and additional details on the SPF will soon be published at http://www.amac-ma.org/SPF.
